Onam 2010

The Association's Onam Celebration is on Saturday Sept. 04, 2010. The event will be held at the Older Adult Center in the Square One Shopping Mall in Mississauga. Please come and enjoy the Ona-sadhya and the cultural entertainment program.

The details are:
  • Date: Saturday September 4, 2010
  • Time: from 5 pm to 10.30 pm
  • Ona-sadhya is from 5 pm to 7 pm
  • Entertainment starts at 7.30 pm
  • Location: Older Adult Centre, 100 City Centre Drive, Mississauga. The entrance is at the lower level between Bank of Montreal and The Bay.
  • Chief Guest: Thakazhi Award winning writer NIRMALA THOMAS
  • Cost: $12.00 for members
    $15.00 for non members
    Children(6-12): $8.00
    Children under 6: free

Saravanaa Bhavan is preparing the traditional Kerala Style Sadhya. There will be Thalapoli reception for King Mahabali. The entertainment program will include Kaikottikali, a variety of dances and songs by many singers. It will be an enjoyable evening for all ages, especially for people of Kerala origin. We encourage everybody to come and celebrate this Onam festival unique to Kerala. Medals for the winners of the sports and games competition held at the Family Picnic will be given out during the program.

School Gymnasium

We have once again rented the gymnasium at the Edenrose Elementary School, 1342 Edenrose St., Mississauga for the purpose of community sports. The rental is for Fridays from 8 pm to 10 pm for the school year. If anybody is interested in playing badminton, cards, basket ball or just spend some time socializing please come at 8pm on Friday evenings to the school. The Gym's use is free but users must bring their own sports equipment.
